It’s Festivus 2025! And you know what that means: Lots of memes to share with your friends about aluminum poles, feats of strength and the airing of grievances.
It’s that last one that we want to do on Tuesday, Dec. 23 — that would be the date of Festivus, in case you didn’t know. We asked the For The Win staff for a sport grievance, and they delivered. It would have made Frank Costanza proud.

So here they are: A whole bunch of grievances.
This one is for you, readers and listeners
I’m going to get hyper specific to sports media here: I’ve seen complaints on Reddit and other social media from fans who want to see more traditional player analysis and more longform and more thoughtful journalism.
I’d wholeheartedly agree. But for that type of content to exist, fans need to actually engage with it when it is in front of them and not just say that they want it.
Gossip and trade rumors and off-court drama is on TV and on the blogs for a reason. It’s not what sportswriters dreamed about when they chose this path. It’s what the audience responds to most often, though.

It gets the people going! Having Big Brother decide crucial first downs just takes the air out of the moment every time. Take us back to the good ol’ days of the eye test and, if need be, index cards. Is anything safe from encroaching technology these days? — Wajih AlBaroudi

Figure out the college football playoffs, please
I don’t know why I picked this out off the top of my head — I’m not really a huge college football fan at all. But from a distance, it feels like the college football playoffs are still a work in progress. From the weird Notre Dame drama to the snoozefest that is the first round, it’s clear that SOMETHING has to change. Is it the way teams are chosen? Can we get some drama injected into it before the quarterfinals? Please! Do something! For my friends who like college football! — Charles Curtis
