The New York Yankees have opened the 2025 season with a stunning homer barrage, which has brought on some controversy in itself. But don’t worry about Aaron Judge: He won’t be a part of it.
Fans have taken notice to a new “torpedo” style bat that several Yankees players have been using since spring training. The bats — which are legal by MLB standards — have the barrel slightly lowered. So, for those players who had been missing pitches towards the label, they’ve now been able to barrel up those same pitches without changing swing mechanics.
But again, these bats are legal, and every player has access to them. Judge, however, is declining to experiment with the new bat. The reason? He’s already good enough.
And obviously he has a point. Judge hit three home runs on Saturday and another on Sunday with his typical bat.
His bat seems to be working just fine for him.
