It’s been quite the whirlwind with Notre Dame, the ACC and the College Football Playoff this week, and it didn’t stop on Wednesday.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips, who was adamant earlier in the week that there wasn’t a coordinator plan to push Miami into the CFP, is now in favor of expanding the number of teams who qualify. As Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua wants a 16-team field, suddenly Phillips wants the same.

Yahoo Sports Ross Dellenger posted on social media that Phillips thinks exploring expansion options should be on the table while at a commissioners conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also agreed with Bevacqua on having less selection shows, which he hadn’t said previously.
I think a lot of this has to due with realizing that Notre Dame is a massively important part of his conference, even though the Irish aren’t with them in football. It’s another twist in the drama that we’ve seen over the last week, and it probably isn’t over.
