Accounting Assistant

As an Accounting Assistant, you will support core accounting operations, help streamline financial processes, and provide insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Requirements

Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance analyses and reconciliations.
  • Perform regular bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist in annual CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, and related adjustments.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records within Yardi, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for audits and tax filings.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting across the real estate portfolio.
Asset Management Support
  • Review and approve commission invoices; create and verify Net Effective Rent (NER) schedules.
  • Conduct financial reviews on prospective tenants, including credit/background checks and financial documentation.
  • Draft legal documents such as leases, amendments, and guarantees using standardized templates.
  • Assist in the creation of property budgets and projections for new acquisitions and existing properties.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Update monthly financial, leasing, and property performance reports.
  • Create cash flow analysis reports for at-risk properties or distributions planning.
  • Track portfolio sales, acquisitions, and prepare summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Property Management Collaboration
  • Assist with executive suite management, move-outs, inspections, and space readiness.
  • Show vacant spaces to prospective tenants and brokers as needed.
  • Support and direct property managers with maintenance planning and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure timely vendor service and optimal property function for self-managed assets.

 

Requirements:
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
  • Proficiency with Yardi accounting software (strongly preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently in a dynamic work environment

 

Expected Outcomes:
  • Within 30 days: Full integration into daily accounting processes with demonstrated independence.
  • By 3 months: Delivery of accurate monthly financial reports and variance analyses with minimal supervision.
  • By 6 months: Active contributor to process improvement initiatives, offering insights and solutions that optimize accounting operations and support strategic growth.
