Are the Vols playing today? 2025 Tennessee football schedule

The 2025 college football season enters Week 6. Tennessee football is one of seven SEC football teams who will not play on Saturday.

The Vols, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri and South Carolina have open dates on Saturday in the SEC.

Tennessee (4-1, 1-1 SEC) is ranked No. 15 for a fourth consecutive week in the US LBM Coaches Poll. The Vols were ranked No. 18 in the preseason and No. 17 after Week 1.

Tennessee will next play on Oct. 11 in Week 7. The Vols will host Arkansas (2-3, 0-1 SEC) at Neyland Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 4:15 p.m. EDT. SEC Network will televise the matchup.

“For some of our guys, get healthy and also get some work in,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said of the Vols not playing on Saturday. “Focus is on us. Fundamentals, technique, things we control. Have to take a step. Young guys have to continue to grow. It’s been a point of emphasis with our team meeting – out on the grass.”
