Barça running out of time: Camp Nou chaos keeps getting worse

Since May 2023, FC Barcelona’s stadium has been under renovation, and for more than two years, Barça fans have not been able to cheer for their team at Camp Nou. The plan was to play in their own stadium again this season, but by the time of the Joan Gamper Trophy in early August, the Spaniards had to move to the Estadi Johan Cruyff, the women’s team’s stadium.

When the 4th matchday of La Liga takes place this coming weekend, it will also be FC Barcelona’s first home game. The big problem with the whole situation: It is still not clear where the game against FC Valencia will take place next Sunday. The league has simply not confirmed a venue yet.

Another game at the Estadi Johan Cruyff is not possible, as the stadium has a capacity of 6,000 seats, whereas La Liga requires at least 8,000 seats. According to ‘Marca’, an exception might be possible, allowing Barça to play in the women’s stadium, but a final confirmation could take until next week.

The club wants to avoid a return to the Olympic Stadium, where the Catalans have been playing since the renovation began.

So, the Spaniards have one more week to find a suitable stadium for their first home game of the season. The chaos for the Catalans just doesn’t seem to lessen.
