Raphinha had a goal and two assists, Robert Lewandowski had a goal and an assist, and Barca led 5-1 early in the second half. Lamine Yamal and Alex Balde also scored for the Blaugranas.

Real led in the fifth minute on a thrilling Kylian Mbappe goal, while Rodrygo scored at the hour mark to make it 5-2 on a free kick just after Wojciech Szczesny had been sent off for taking down Mbappe outside the box.

The win stops Real Madrid from going level with Barca in Supercopa titles, as Barca moves to 15. No other team besides Real has won more than three.

It’s Hansi Flick’s first trophy as Barcelona boss. The side’s 38 points are currently six back of leaders Atletico Madrid and five behind Real in the race to win La Liga.

Kylian Mbappe 6′, Lamine Yamal 22′, Robert Lewandowski pen 36′, Raphinha 39′, 48′, Alex Balde 45+10′, Rodrygo 60′

Rodrygo goal — Barcelona 5-2 Real Madrid (60th minute)

Pena’s first action is getting a small piece of Rodrygo’s smashed free kick, and his second is taking the ball out of the goal as Real get one back against the 10-man Blaugranas.

Barca subs

Inaki Pena comes in to play keeper, taking Gavi’s place, and Lamine Yamal will also exit in favor of Dani Olmo.

Wojciech Szczesny red card

Woah. Well, this is something.

Barca’s goalkeeper is off in the 57th minute after VAR review.

Szczesny flew out of the box and took down Mbappe, and Barca’s four-goal lead in Jeddah now will have to be enough to overcome 33 minutes down a man.

Raphinha goal — Barcelona 5-1 Real Madrid (48th minute)

Halftime — Barcelona 4-1 Real Madrid

That wonderful opener from Mbappe was not foreshadowing, unless you’re talking about more goals for both teams.

Barca had 66% of the ball and seven of their 13 shot attempts have been on target.

Real were in this as they have produced eight shots (two on target), but there are so many reminders of Barca’s sensational second half in October’s La Liga encounter, a 4-0 Clasico win for the Blaugranas.

Alex Balde goal — Barcelona 4-1 Real Madrid (45+10′)

Better have your legs strong if you want to play for Hansi Flick — or to defend his teams.

Several players make lung-bursting runs as Barca takes a giveaway from Real and runs a stamina drill into the box for Alex Balde to make 4-1.

Nine minutes first-half stoppage

That’s a good deal of time but there have been a bunch of stoppages for injuries, including one that took Barca center back Inigo Martinez off for Ronald Araujo.

Raphinha goal — Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid (39th minute)

Robert Lewandowski penalty goal — Barcelona 2-1 Real Madrid (36th minute)

Eduardo Camavinga catches Gavi with the bottom of his boot, and Robert Lewandowski’s been to the spot a time or two in his life. 2-1.

Lamine Yamal goal! Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid (22nd minute)

So pretty. Lamine Yamal runs onto a smooth Robert Lewandowski through ball, lowers his shoulder to shake a defender (or two), and calmly rolls a shot inside the near post from across his body.

Kylian Mbappe goal! Barcelona 0-1 Real Madrid (6th minute)

Barcelona lineup

Szczesny, Balde, Cubarsi, I. Martinez, Kounde, Casado, Gavi, Pedri, Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski

Real Madrid lineup

Courtois, Vasquez, Tchouameni, Rudiger, Mendy, Valverde, Camavinga, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, Mbappe

Barcelona vs Real Madrid preview — By Andy Edwards

The stars were out in the semifinals, to set up the dream final everyone around the world wants to see. Homegrown heroes Gavi and Lamine Yamal each scored a goal in Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, and Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo each got on the scoresheet in Real Madrid’s 3-0 triumph against Mallorca on Thursday.

Barcelona were 4-0 victors at the Bernabeu when the sides faced off in the first meet this season back in October. November and December quickly turned unkind to Barcelona, though, as they have since gone on to win just two of their last eight league games and slipped from 1st in the table (6 points clear), to 3rd (5 points behind). Barcelona’s losses have been Real Madrid’s gains, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side aiming for back-to-back titles and three in the last four seasons.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid prediction

Barcelona should have a lot of joy in attack if Dani Ceballos is really the answer to, who’s up next at center back? But the same can be said for Mbappe, Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo as the new Galacticos begin to gel together. Form and motivation both favor Real Madrid, so for that reason… Barcelona 1-3 Real Madrid.
