The Chicago Bears continued to build around second-year quarterback Caleb Williams with the addition of tight end Colston Loveland with the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Loveland, who didn’t have the most stable quarterback situation at Michigan last season, now gets to catch passes from last year’s No. 1 overall pick as Ben Johnson takes the reins on offense. And Loveland is already a fan of his new quarterback.
“Stud,” Loveland said of Williams. “I love his game, just watching him throughout college. He’s that man and I’m super excited. The arm talent on him, super smart, does everything the right way from what I can tell. So, I’m super excited. He gave me a call a little bit ago, so we’re looking to build that bond and just get with him and help the Bears win.”
Williams had a rocky rookie season, which featured some impressive accolades and on-field skill but also some struggles that included a 10-game losing streak, two different head coaches and three offensive coordinators. This offseason has been about Chicago building around their franchise quarterback.
Now, looking at what the Bears have done this offseason, it’s hard not to imagine a more perfect situation of Williams. It started with the hiring of Johnson as head coach and continued with overhauling the offensive line and now adding two more weapons in Loveland and receiver Luther Burden III. Not to put too much pressure on Williams, but everyone’s anticipating a huge leap for QB1 in 2025.
