Bengals QB Joe Burrow says goodbye to Germaine Pratt in his own way

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had nothing but good things to say during mandatory minicamp after the team released linebacker Germaine Pratt.

The Bengals released Pratt in a cost-cutting measure after the veteran requested his release back in February, but only after revamping the position via free agency and the draft.

Asked about the development, Burrow took the expected stance.

“I love Germaine. Germaine has made some big-time plays for us over the years. We’re going to miss him around here,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “He was a leader, a guy who created turnovers, made a lot of tackles, and made some of the biggest plays in franchise history. So we love him. He’s a vocal guy, very vocal, and we didn’t have a ton of those the last couple years. Germaine filled that role and filled it well.”

The Bengals wanted a youth movement on the defensive side of the ball and got it, especially with rookie Demetrius Knight likely to step into a major role next to Logan Wilson in place of Pratt.

While the move away from Pratt officially took far longer than expected, the former Bengals captain didn’t need long to sign with another team, immediately landing with the Las Vegas Raiders.
