Bills WR tears ACL ahead of Broncos playoff game

The Buffalo Bills will be without wide receiver Gabe Davis when they go on the road to face the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs at Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday.

Bills coach Sean McDermott announced Monday that Davis has a torn ACL, ending his season. Davis underwent an MRI on Monday after the team struggled to determine an initial diagnosis because his knee was so swollen. The eventual MRI revealed a torn ACL.

Davis (6-2, 225 pounds) left Sunday’s 27-24 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter. Davis was spotted wearing a brace and using crutches after the game, and he posted a picture on social media telling fans he will “shake back.”

Davis hauled in 12 receptions for 129 yards and one touchdown in six games this season (he started the year on injured reserve while recovering from last season’s torn PCL). The 26-year-old receiver has totaled 175 receptions for 2,859 yards and 28 touchdowns in 70 career games with the Bills.

Denver and Buffalo are expected to hold practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before releasing final injury reports with game statuses for Saturday’s showdown.
