The timing of J.T. Miller’s trade was a little bit odd.
Miller was dealt from the Vancouver Canucks to the New York Rangers just a couple weeks before the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin made clear that this upcoming tournament had nothing to do with the timing of the Miller trade.
“I have been open for trades since the start of the season,” Allvin said via The Athletic. “Never was a conversation about timing on the trade for our end regarding the 4 Nations. Return was the key for us.”
Miller is actually set to play in the 4 Nations Face-Off for Team USA as he’ll be alongside his new teammates Vincent Trocheck, Chris Kreider and Adam Fox.
The 31-year-old forward was traded after weeks of rumors of a reported rift between himself and Elias Pettersson.
In his two games with the Rangers, Miller has recorded two goals, two assists and four points while averaging 18:36 minutes.
