Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Hartman was signing autographs after practice on Tuesday when a woman approached him while recording a video.
“Sam, would you mind saying hi to my mom, Susan?” The phone bearer asks. “She thinks you’re super hot.”
Hartman smiles a little sheepishly and says, “Susan, I don’t discriminate from age, but I appreciate your support.” He nervously messes with his hat while he answers, and smiles again as he moves on to the next fan.
Whether this happens to him often or not, Hartman remains humble. He is currently unmarried and, as far as this writer knows, single. Quarterbacks are often considered the heartthrobs of the team with the best hair, an easy smile, and the confidence it takes to lead a football team. This probably isn’t the first time Hartman has heard that he’s “super hot” from a fan, and it probably won’t be the last. His humble reaction to the fan shows Hartman’s character, and that’s what we should take away from this.
He joined the Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2024, spending much of the season on the practice squad. He was elevated to the main roster when Marcus Mariota was injured, and this year will likely look similar for the young quarterback. He is currently competing with veteran Josh Johnson for the No. 3 job and started Washington’s first preseason game.
