Campbell played nine seasons for the Cardinals and left in free agency eight years ago. He returns on a one-year deal.
One of the best Arizona Cardinals players in the last 20 years is on the team again. Eight years after he left in free agency, defensive lineman Calais Campbell, now entering his 18th NFL season, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals, the team announced Tuesday.
Campbell is 38 years old but is still playing at a good level. Last season with the Miami Dolphins, he had 52 total tackles, five sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, five tipped passes and a forced fumble, appearing and starting in all 17 games. He played 615 defensive snaps for Miami.
He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in 2008 in the second round and was part of the Cardinals’ Super Bowl team as a rookie.
He played nine seasons through 2016 and had 56.5 sacks, which is the third-most in a career in franchise history.
For his career, he has 110.5 sacks.
The Cardinals now have a crowded defensive line room, as he joins Dalvin Tomlinson, Justin Jones, Bilal Nichols, 2024 first-round pick Darius Robinson, L.J. Collier and Dante Stills.
Campbell is a six-time Pro Bowler and one-time first-team All-Pro.
This is an exciting time for Cardinals fans.
