Donald Trump left critics scratching their heads Monday with his rambling tribute to the Los Angeles Dodgers during the team’s visit to the White House to celebrate its 2024 World Series win.
The president’s attempt to praise the Dodgers’ tenacity amid injuries to key players quickly turned into a “WTF” moment for commenters online.
“All year, the Dodgers faced down adversity,” Trump said. “You entered the playoffs battered and bruised, but not broken.”
Then it took a weird turn:
“When you ran out the healthy arms — you ran out of really healthy — they had great arms, but they ran out. It’s called sports. It’s called baseball in particular. And pitchers, I guess you could say, and really particular.”
