Exiled Man United man now spoiled for choice in transfer search as league winners and Premier League club lead race

Alejandro Garnacho is one of the few Manchester United wantaways who has ‘genuine options’ available this summer.

That’s according to iSport, which claims the eight-capped Argentine has attracted interest from both Napoli and Chelsea – the same clubs who had targeted him in the winter window – with the former deemed ‘frontrunners’.

As for the freshly-crowned Club World Cup winners, whose triumph at the tournament saw them pocket £85 million, they retain their desire to sign Garnacho in the aftermath of Noni Madueke’s move to Arsenal.

They are, however, willing to ‘bide their time’ in hopes of United lowering their £60m valuation in the latter stages of the window. Given how public the club have made their intentions to sell the 21-year-old and how he’ll play no part in Ruben Amorim’s plans, INEOS may be cornered into accepting a cut-price bid next month – or else risk having to U-turn on their decision and keep him on the books.

Alternatively, a move to Napoli would see him reunite with former teammate Scott McTominay, and he’d have a genuine chance of winning his first league title, considering how stellar the reigning Scudetto winners are shaping up for the new term; they added Kevin De Bruyne to Antonio Conte’s ranks following his release from Manchester City.

The Carrington graduate is tied to Old Trafford until June 2028.
