
In judo, gold medal winners included Anna Monta Olek of Germany in the women’s -78kg category and Kim Jonghoon of South Korea in the men’s -90kg division. Kim Hayun, also from South Korea, won in the women’s +78kg category. Michal Jedrzejewski of Poland captured gold in the men’s -100kg event, while Yuta Nakamura from Japan excelled in the men’s +100kg category.
In women’s basketball, Team People’s Republic of China defeated Team USA to claim the gold medal.
The archery events were equally entertaining, with several teams taking home gold. Team Republic of Korea won gold in the women’s compound team event, while Team Türkiye captured gold in the men’s compound team category. Team India triumphed in the mixed compound team event. Team Japan excelled in both the women’s and men’s recurve team events. The mixed recurve team from the People’s Republic of China also claimed gold.
In doubles events, Oby Ange Kajuru and Kanon Yamaguchi from Japan won gold in the women’s doubles, while Egor Agafonov and Ilia Simakin of Russia triumphed in the men’s doubles. Natsuki Yoshimoto and Jay Dylan Hara Friend from Japan captured gold in the mixed doubles, adding to Japan’s impressive medal tally in archery.
In an outstanding performance, Shinsaku Kudo of Japan won the men’s half marathon, breaking the FISU record with a time of 1:02:29, showing his incredible endurance and speed.
Beach volleyball brought even more excitement as Philipp Huster and Max Just of Germany crowned themselves champions. Menia Bentele and Annique Niederhauser of Switzerland also celebrated as beach volleyball champions.
In athletics, Ruben Querinjean made history by winning Luxembourg’s first medal at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, breaking the FISU record with a time of 8:18.46. In tennis, Eszter Méri of Slovakia won the gold medal in women’s singles, while Jay Friend from Japan captured the men’s singles gold medal.
