Former Michigan Wolverines forward Jace Howard commits to Fordham

It made sense when he came to Ann Arbor, as his father had just been named head coach. And even though Jace Howard stayed with Michigan basketball, he’s looking for a new opportunity away from the maize and blue.

The Wolverines forward/center has one more year of eligibility remaining, though it had appeared as if maybe he had exhausted his time in college. But shortly after Michigan basketball’s season was over, Howard decided to see if he could get another year and play somewhere else — somewhere he may be able to start and see meaningful minutes.

Howard wasn’t exactly the same type of fit for Dusty May’s team as he was his father, Juwan Howard’s, and now he’ll get another opportunity, as it was announced that he committed to Fordham.

The Rams need all the help they can get and a former Power Four starter should help matters immensely. Fordham was dead last in the A-10 last year with a 3-15 record. What’s more, the Rams will be working in a new coach after previous coach, Keith Urgo, was hit with a show-cause by the NCAA due to recruiting violations.

With Howard gone, the Wolverines brought in UCLA center Aday Mara and Illinois forward Morez Johnson Jr. to fill the role he’s vacating.
