It’s the offseason for the NFL, but there are some significant roster spots still up for grabs with the NFL draft just occurring and free agency still going on. And while most of the bigger names that are veterans in the League have already been gobbled up, there’s still some out there looking to land a contract before the musical chairs game of free agency ends.
One such former Ohio State player is Nicholas Petit-Frere. Most are aware of the struggles Petit-Frere had with violating the League’s gambling policy, but he has been around since being reinstated. The former third-round draft pick has been in Tennessee the past three seasons and struggled to find his way a bit last year. He did start 28 total games thus far for the Titans in his young career, and will now get a chance to earn a spot with the San Francisco 49ers, who picked him up as a free agent on Friday.
It won’t be easy for the Tampa native. He’ll have to shake a perception and recent struggles to earn a spot, but with anything, sometimes all you need is for a door to open, kick it open, and walk through it. Here’s to hoping Petit-Frere can do just that in the Bay Area.
