Kane has yet to play this season after undergoing abdominal surgery back in September. Now, his recovery process will take much longer after having this latest surgery on his knee.
The Oilers also announced that Kane’s knee procedure was unrelated to his previous abdominal surgery.
Kane, 33, appeared in 77 games this past season, posting 24 goals, 44 points, 85 penalty minutes, and 250 hits. He also had four goals, eight points, and a minus-7 rating in 20 post-season games for Edmonton last year.
In three seasons as a Sabre from 2015-16 to 2017-18, Kane had 68 goals, 118 points, and a minus-45 rating in 196 games.
