Former Vol Larry Seivers discusses being on 2026 Hall-of-Fame ballot

Former Tennessee wide receiver Larry Seivers is on the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot.

He has been on the ballot for several years, and while he would be honored to be enshrined, Seivers is not worried about whether or not he is inducted.

“The older you get, the less this really means,” Seivers told Vols Wire. “Life is good. I have my wife, two kids and four grandkids.

“We live within 20 minutes of both our kids, and I have a great family. I just retired. As you get older, it just doesn’t mean as much. When you get older, it means less and less because your priorities change.”

Seivers is one of three potential inductees with ties to the Vols on the 2026 ballot. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel is on the ballot for a sixth consecutive year for his accomplishments as a player at Oklahoma. Deon Grant, a defensive back for Tennessee’s 1998 BCS national championship team, is on the ballot for the first time.

Seivers, a native of Clinton, Tennessee, was a two-time All-America wide receiver for the Volunteers from 1974-76. He played for head coach Bill Battle. Seivers was the first Tennessee wide receiver to total 800 receiving yards in a single season.

The former Vol recorded 117 receptions, 1,924 receiving yards and eight touchdowns during his Tennessee career.
