Week 2 of the 2025 MLB has concluded.
Five former Vols were on MLB rosters during Week 2: Jordan Beck (Colorado), Garrett Crochet (Boston), Chase Dollander (Colorado), Seth Halvorsen (Colorado) and Ben Joyce (Angels).
Dollander joined Beck and Halvorsen in Colorado and made his MLB debut on April 6.
Dollander was selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft (No. 9 overall). He played for the Vols from 2022-23 after transferring from Georgia Southern.
Crochet played for Tennessee from 2018-20 and was selected by the White Sox in the 2020 MLB draft (No. 11 overall). He was traded to the Red Sox following the 2024 season.
Beck was drafted by Colorado (No. 38 overall) in 2022 and played for the Vols from 2020-22. Halvorsen was also selected by the Rockies in 2023 during the seventh-round (No. 202 overall) after playing at Tennessee from 2022-23. Dollander was taken by the Rockies in 2023 (No. 9 overall) after two season with the Vols.
Joyce played for the Vols from 2021-22 and was drafted in the third round by the Angels in 2022 (No. 89 overall).
Below are performances from former Vols during Week 2 of the 2025 MLB season.
Chase Dollander
The Rockies’ series finale against the A’s was Dollander’s MLB debut. He pitched five innings and recorded six strikeouts to earn his first win. Dollander allowed seven hits, four runs and one walk.
Garrett Crochet
After receiving a contract extension, Crochet started and pitched eight innings against the Orioles. He recorded eight strikeouts, while surrendering four hits and one walk en route to his first win in 2025.
Ben Joyce
Joyce started his week in the eighth inning of the second game against the Cardinals, surrendering one hit and one run that extended the game into extra innings.
Joyce relieved Brock Burke in the seventh inning of the series finale against Cleveland on April 6. He pitched 1.1 innings, recording one strikeouts and 11 pitches.
Jordan Beck
Beck opened the Rockies’ series against Philadelphia with one walk and one infield single. He started Colorado’s weekend series against the A’s with one walk and hit a game-tying RBI single.
Beck pinch ran for Nick Martini in the series finale, scoring the Rockies’ eighth run of the game.
Seth Halvorsen
Halvorsen surrendered one walk and one against the Phillies.
He pitched the ninth and 10th innings during the series opener against the A’s. He totaled two strikeouts and allowed one hit.
