Giants spent considerable time meeting with Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has a crucial draft coming up in April as he continues to improve the roster ahead of the 2025 season.

While most of the attention is on the Giants’ third overall pick in the draft and who they will take if they do not trade up to land their franchise quarterback of the future, they could very well elect to trade back if they are on the clock and another team wants to move up.

If the Giants trade back, they would likely miss out on the prospects they have been most linked to in mock drafts, including Shedeur Sanders, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter.

But one player the Giants could target is edge rusher Shemar Stewart, a Texas A&M product who is expected to be a first-round pick.

Adding an edge rusher is not necessarily a need for the Giants with Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns set to be the starters. However, as fans of the Giants know, depth at the position is a good problem to have.

The Giants’ depth also took a hit when Azeez Ojulari departed in free agency to join their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Of course, after signing quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, many wonder if the Giants are still in play for a quarterback in the first round. However, if they elect to pass on a quarterback, whether it be Abdul Carter or Shemar Stewart, the Giants seem to be heavily interested in adding an edge rusher.
