About the Role
We’re seeking a highly capable HR Operations Specialist to manage employee benefits, own and optimize our HRIS (ADP Workforce Now), and support core HR operations. This is a key role on a lean, collaborative HR team, perfect for a hands-on professional who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to make a direct impact on people, systems, and process efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional who can switch seamlessly between strategic problem-solving and detailed execution. You’ll serve as the go-to person for all things related to employee benefits, HR systems, and day-to-day people operations.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Administer benefit programs including health, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life, disability, and 401(k).
- Lead open enrollment including planning to execution, including employee communication, vendor coordination, and system setup.
- Respond to employee questions and assist with claims, eligibility, and life events.
- Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor benefit trends and assist with plan evaluation and design recommendations.
HRIS Administration (ADP Workforce Now)
- Serve as the in-house expert and primary administrator for ADP Workforce Now (current version), including HR, Benefits, and Time modules.
- Maintain and configure system modules, workflows, access levels, and data integrity.
- Partner with HR, payroll, and IT to ensure accurate data processing across the employee lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot issues, implement system enhancements, and manage vendor communications.
- Ensure clean data practices, troubleshoot system issues, and lean new feature roll-outs.
- Train employees on system use and self-service functionality.
HR Generalist Support
- Support employee lifecycle including on-boarding, role changes, HRIS entries, and off-boarding.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Manage Leaves of Absence under federal, state, and company policies.
- Assist in employee relations matters, documentation, and investigations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Contribute to department process improvements, handbook updates, and culture-building initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 3–4+ years of progressive HR experience across HR operations, benefits, and HRIS administration.
- Advanced ADP Workforce Now skills, including system setup, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with HR best practices, employee lifecycle processes, and compliance reporting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a criminal background check will be required.
Preferred:
- HR or ADP certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, ADP Certified Specialist).
- Experience with additional ADP modules (HR, Time & Attendance, Benefits, etc.).
- Exposure to multi-state or remote workforce environments.

We provide a competitive compensation package and pay rates are based on your skills and experience and weighted by geographical location.
The starting pay for this role is $31.00 to $34.00 per hour DOQ plus annual bonus based on company performance and profitability.

Operating on the site of the old Lonsdale Cotton Mill in North Smithfield, RI, Berroco continues to lead the industry by continually adapting to the changing needs of the times.
