The Arizona Cardinals have the 16th and 47th picks as their first two selections in the 2025 NFL draft. First- and second-round picks are expected to be the most impactful players.
The Arizona Cardinals could go in many directions with their first two picks in the draft, but what would be ideal?
NFL.com’s Chad Reuter gave what would be the ideal top two picks for every team. For the Cardinals, both are offensive players. They are:
- Round 1: Texas OT Kelvin Banks
- Round 2: Iowa State WR Jaylin Noel
The Cardinals should add to their offensive line to give Kyler Murray a better chance of finding last year’s first selection, Marvin Harrison Jr., deep downfield. They’ve shown an interest in versatile linemen before, picking Paris Johnson Jr. sixth overall in 2023, and Banks — with his experience at left tackle and potential as a powerful guard — fits the bill. Noel could slide into the slot immediately, using his quickness and surprising strength to separate from defenders.
In terms of immediate impact, an offensive lineman and a receiver would have the most opportunities. The Cardinals have some uncertainty at right tackle with Jonah Williams recovering from a knee injury and their starting right guard job is to be determined. Banks could potentially start as a rookie at right guard and then move to right tackle after Williams’ contract runs out.
Noel, a speedy playmaker, could get significant playing time.
At any other position, a player would see little time as a rookie. The defensive line room is full of solid veterans and has 2024 first-round pick Darius Robinson.
The Cardinals re-signed Baron Browning and added Josh Sweat to the edge, and they expect BJ Ojulari to return and perform well.
They have a slew of young cornerbacks and solid safeties.
So a lineman and a receiver in Round 1 and 2 would be ideal, at least in terms of immediate impact.
