The trailer presents the story of Murugesan, a villager who rises in life to become a successful employee at a restaurant chain. However, conflicted by his experiences, he returns home to carry forward the legacy of an idli shop established by his father.

Idli Kadai’s trailer begins with a young Murugesan living with his parents in a village in Tamil Nadu. His father, who owns a beloved idli shop, is shown as a respected figure in the community. Murugesan’s journey then transitions to his life working at a 5-star restaurant chain.
However, his path takes a swift turn when he realizes the importance of returning to his roots and accepting what truly matters. Amidst his search for identity and belonging, Murugesan also finds himself fending off attempts by his former corporate employer to usurp the place his father built.

With Dhanush playing the lead, the movie casts Arun Vijay as the prime antagonist. Apart from them, Idli Kadai features a strong ensemble cast including Nithya Menen, Sathyaraj, R. Parthiban, Shalini Pandey, P. Samuthirakani, Rajkiran, and many more in pivotal roles.
Directed by Dhanush, the movie is slated to release on October 1, 2025. The film’s musical tracks and background scores are crafted by GV Prakash Kumar.

Dhanush was last seen in the lead role for the film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The drama flick featured him as a beggar and included performances by Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and several others in key roles.
Looking ahead, the Raayan actor is working on the movie, tentatively titled D54. Directed by Por Thozhil fame Vignesh Raja, the film features actors like Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and more in pivotal roles.
