Prior to BYU’s Pro Day, the Indianapolis Colts are reportedly meeting with offensive tackle Caleb Etienne.

Prior to BYU’s Pro Day, the Indianapolis Colts are meeting with offensive tackle Caleb Etienne, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network.

Etienne is an imposing presence, measuring in at 6-8 – 320 pounds. He’s played just over 2,200 career snaps, 1,002 of which came in 2022 and Oklahoma State, along with 867 this past season at BYU.

He has both right and left tackle experience, but the bulk of Etienne’s playing time has come on the left side. In 2024, Etienne allowed three sacks and 24 pressures over 447 pass-blocking snaps.

“I’m very explosive in pass protection,” Etienne told Melo. “That is my strong suit. I’m explosive out of my stance. I feel like I’ve gotten better, and the sky’s the limit for me in pass protection.”

Out of 200 eligible tackles, Etienne ranked 140th in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency and 99th in run-blocking grade. As we’ve seen GM Chris Ballard often do, this draft pick would be a swing on upside and traits.

The offensive tackle position is one that the Colts do have to address. Presumably, if Matt Goncalves moves to right guard with Will Fries in Minnesota, the team needs a swing tackle off the bench. At this point, banking on Blake Freeland to fill that role is a risky one.

“I bring a great mentality to the team, a competitive mentality,” Etienne added. “I’m a good teammate to have in the locker room. I’m coming in hungry. I love football.”
