As Iowa baseball (14-9, 7-2 Big Ten) recovers from a 10-8 Tuesday evening loss to Illinois State from Normal, Ill., the team will have a shorter-than-expected turnaround time before they embark on a three-game series vs. Minnesota (11-11, 2-4) from Siebert Field in Minneapolis, Minn.
The change in the schedule is due to both the Hawkeyes and Golden Gophers agreeing to shift the series to an earlier start to combat inclement weather that is expected in the Twin Cities area this weekend.
With the change, Game 1 of the series will be moved from the original scheduled Friday date to Thursday, March 27, at 3 p.m. CT.
In addition to the schedule change for Game 1, Games 2 and 3 will be moved from their respective Friday and Saturday designations to a Friday doubleheader starting at noon CT. The start time for Game 3 obviously will be determined by the
Cade Obermueller (1-2, 3.48 ERA) should be given the start in Game 1, with the expected rotation to allow Aaron Savary (4-0, 3.06 ERA) to open Game 2 and Reese Bueter (4-0, 3.52 ERA) to work the back end of the twin bill on Friday.
The entire series will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus (Subscription required) and can be heard on the Hawkeyes Radio Network alongside play-by-play voice John Leo and color analyst John Evans.
