Former University of Wisconsin star Jake Ferguson has gotten a big payday, signing a four-year extension with the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced July 27.

The new deal is worth $52 million and includes a $12 million signing bonus, with $30 million in guaranteed money. Ferguson’s pact will make him the highest-paid tight end in the franchise’s tenure.

“It’s money, but it doesn’t change things,” Ferguson said. “I still have to get out there and prove, and work my tail off. … I don’t wanna be anywhere else. It’s a privilege to wear this star.”

Ferguson was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 draft. In three seasons with the Cowboys, he has 149 catches for 1,429 yards over 47 games. However, last season, none of his 59 receptions were touchdowns and he missed three games due to injuries.

Ferguson caught five of his seven career touchdowns in 2023, when he finished with 761 yards receiving and 71 catches.
