Jaxson Hayes sees rest of this season as big opportunity for himself

The Los Angeles Lakers are weak at the center position, and that position could very well end up being their downfall in the upcoming NBA playoffs. But starting 5 Jaxson Hayes hasn’t done too badly lately.

He stepped up his game in March by averaging 9.8 points and 5.9 rebounds in 23.5 minutes a game, his highest averages in any of those categories in a single month this season. He reached double digits in scoring five times in March, and the Lakers have made it a point to try to set him up for easy baskets early in games.

Hayes says that he feels the rest of the season will present a big opportunity for him.

Via Lakers Nation:

“I just view it as opportunity to make a name for myself, an opportunity to go win some games and win a ring,” Hayes said. “And I just look at it as I gotta come in locked in every day and just try to make the most out of every day, be the best version of myself.”

More than anything else, the team will need rim protection, rebounding, boxing out, physicality and energy from Hayes the rest of the way if it is to do something special over the next couple of months.
