More number news!
The Denver Broncos’ 2025 rookies picked numbers ahead of rookie minicamp earlier this month. This week, veterans arrived for organized team activities, and the new arrivals picked their numbers.
Incoming quarterback Sam Ehlinger picked No. 4, which was previously worn by Zach Wilson last season. It’s a fitting transition given that Wilson served as Denver’s third-string QB in 2024, the same role Ehlinger now holds.
However, Ehlinger picking No. 4 — and wide receiver Trent Sherfield keeping No. 5 — means there are no single-digit numbers left for rookie running back RJ Harvey (the team’s second-round draft pick). Harvey previously hinted about a potential number change, but he’s still wearing No. 37 (for now).
Rookie cornerback Jahdae Barron (a first-round pick) has been noncommittal about No. 12, but he’s also sticking with it for the moment.
Broncos new jersey numbers
- QB Sam Ehlinger: 4
- CB Jaden Robinson: 33
- CB Joshua Pickett: 39 (defense)
- WR Kyrese White: 39 (offense)
- S Sam Franklin: 42
- LS Zach Triner: 46
- ILB Jordan Turner: 55
- TE Cole Fotheringham: 86
- WR Courtney Jackson: 89
Note that players are allowed to share numbers during the offseason if they play on different sides of the ball. Also note that rookie punter Jeremy Crawshaw switched from No. 39 to No. 16 after wide receiver Troy Franklin officially switched to No. 11.
Denver has three officially retired numbers: 7 (John Elway), 18 (Frank Tripucka, Peyton Manning) and Floyd Little (44). The team also has three unofficially retired numbers that are rarely issued: 24 (Champ Bailey), 58 (Von Miller) and 88 (Demaryius Thomas).
