He will join the Jets under new head coach Aaron Glenn, who was hired after a four-year run as the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator.
Wilks did not work in the league last season, but was most recently the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator in 2023. The longtime defensive assistant spent one season as the Cardinals’ head coach in 2018, though he went just 3-13 there, and then took over as the Carolina Panthers’ interim coach briefly in 2022.
