Jon Allen praised Commanders owner Josh Harris for stadium renovations

Jonathan Allen knows what bureaucratic red tape can mean for a community.

Allen, a guest on Chris Long’s “Green Light” podcast, spoke of all the red tape the Commanders might have to go through to finally get into that new stadium. Long inquired about the section that fell on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and whether, as rumored, actual human feces came out of water pipes onto the fans.

Allen replied, “I never felt unsafe. I have to give a lot of credit to Mr. Harris (Josh). He came in and he did a lot of renovations. The problem is, you know how it is in DC, the politics. I think DC owns RFK, so you have to go through them, and then you have to go through the government. There’s so much going on. And we’re already land-locked in that area. We’re playing in Maryland, we’re practicing in Virginia. With DC, it’s just so much going on. I can’t imagine how long it is going to take. I’m going to say, probably it’s going to take 10, 15, or 20 years to get a stadium. I mean, who knows?”

Allen did not hesitate to compliment a former teammate when Long inquired regarding former Michigan DB Mike Sainristil. “He’s an animal, dude. I’ll never forget Coach Saban called him (Sainristil) pound-for-pound the best player in the draft, or pound-for-pound his favorite player in the draft.”

“I mean, he is 5-foot-10 and maybe 180,” said Allen, “And he’s just a dog. I love Mikey. I love playing beside him, it was so much fun.”

Allen told Long he wanted to go to Virginia Tech, but Tech removed its offer, saying Allen was too small. Well, Saban and Alabama were more than glad to have someone like Allen as he thrived for the Crimson Tide playing in the SEC.

Having taken up the game of golf, Allen likes to play a lot. In fact, he told Long that he was looking at a house in Minnesota recently, but told his wife no to a particular home because he needs to get a golf simulator in his next house because of the cold weather he will be facing in Minnesota.

Does Allen have an individual goal for his NFL play? Allen is currently at 42 quarterback sacks and has expressed a desire to get to 100 sacks for his career. Allen wants to enjoy a long career and hopes to play another eight or nine NFL seasons, averaging seven sacks a season.
