Kansas’ Darryn Peterson won’t play vs. No. 5 UConn, will miss seventh straight game with hamstring injury

Kansas guard Darryn Peterson’s hamstring injury will keep him out Tuesday night against No. 5 UConn, head coach Bill Self said in a statement hours before tip-off.

“Darryn is not going to play tonight,” Self said. “He is very close. He has worked his butt off, but he is still not 100%. He is day-to-day.”

Peterson, the Rivals industry ranking’s No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has appeared in only two games for the No. 21 Jayhawks this season. He’s set to miss his seventh outing in a row when the Huskies take the court in Allen Fieldhouse.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Canton, Ohio, native hasn’t played since an 87-74 loss to then-No. 25 North Carolina on Nov. 7.
