Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been in the news for myriad reasons this offseason as fans, media, and former players continue to debate and discuss what he must do to become the leader coach Ben Johnson’s team needs.
The Bears got over 3,500 passing yards from the former USC Trojan during his rookie year at Soldier Field with the Bears but his efforts added up to a paltry five wins.
On Saturday, legendary NFL quarterback Kurt Warner weighed in on a recent controversy surrounding the Bears signal caller as he offered a retort to former NFL QB and college football Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
Warner’s long-winded response garnered over 800 thousand views on Saturday heading toward Sunday as he responded to Griffin’s round of question on the Bears’ coaching staff.
“Caleb Williams not being taught what to watch on film weekly by his Chicago coaches last year was coaching malpractice,” Griffin III wrote on Williams.
“Just because it’s the NFL doesn’t mean that the development stops. If you want your QB to see the game like you, then teach him how to watch tape like you do,” he continued.
Warner challenged RGIII’s assertion saying that he was never taught how to watch film by his coaches, although he did watch film with them and developed his own habits in the film room during his playing days.
I never once had a coach sit down and teach me HOW to watch film!!! I might gleen from watching film with them, but no one walked me through it! I watched, asked questions and developed my own means of prep based on what I needed!
Not saying the coaches should not have asked,… https://t.co/oWnoaXbZ4O

Warner and Griffin III continued to chat in the comments section with Griffin III stating that Warner overcame bad coaching.
You are a hall of Famer because you overcame bad coaching my brother. You weren’t the 1st pick in the draft who has the weight of the entire organization on your shoulders from the start. Because Caleb was and because that staff had their jobs on the line, they should have taken…

Warner expounded on his comments, making a comment of his own on Griffin’s choice of the word “malpractice.”
My point isn’t that a coach shouldn’t teach those things or at least lay out a road map, my point is I’ve never seen it done so “malpractice” is a strong word! There were a lot of things assumed not taught at NFL level… and those that couldn’t do it struggled often!
So then it…
