Lady Vols record second consecutive comeback win against Auburn

No. 4 Tennessee (36-9, 11-6 SEC) defeated Auburn (27-19, 4-16 SEC), 6-4, Friday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

With the victory, the Lady Vols clinched a SEC series win against Auburn. Tennessee came from behind for a second consecutive game in the series, as Auburn scored in the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Vols tied the game in the first inning after Laura Mealer hit a RBI single. Tennessee led, 6-1, in the second inning after Sophia Nugent hit a three-run home run, and Saviya Morgan hit a RBI triple. McKenna Gibson also recorded one RBI on a groundout.

Auburn scored one run in the fourth inning and added two more runs in the fifth inning to pull to within, 6-4.

Morgan went 2-for-2. She hit a triple and totaled one RBI, one run and one stolen base. Nugent went 1-for-2, hitting a three-run home run and scored one run.

Taylor Pannell, who won Thursday’s game with a two-run walk-off home run, went 1-for-2, recording a triple in game No. 2, while Mealer went 1-for-2, recording one RBI single.

Sage Mardjetko (9-2) started and pitched four innings for the Lady Vols. She allowed four runs and five hits. Mardjetko recorded eight strikeouts, while totaling 75 pitches, including 51 strikes.

Three-time reigning SEC and NFCA Pitcher of the Week Karlyn Pickens earned her first save of the 2025 season. She pitched three innings, allowing two hits. Pickens recorded six strikeouts, while totaling 45 pitches, including 36 strikes.
