Latest City injury news and more.

Manchester City take on Aston Villa tonight at the Etihad Stadium in a pivotal Premier League fixture. Both teams have ambitions of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Tonight’s meeting between the two teams is a crucial match in that particular race. As it stands Pep Guardiola’s side sits 5th on the Premier League table with 58 points. Aston Villa sit 7th on the table a point behind City with 57 points. A win for either team could prove to be crucial for either team.

Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for tonight’s match.

Latest City injury news.

Based on images shared on mancity.com of the Manchester City squad training ahead of tonight’s match there doesn’t appear to be any change on the injury front for Pep Guardiola’s squad. Ederson, Rodri, Erling Haaland, John Stones and Nathan Ake all missed City’s win over Everton. There is no indication that any of those players mentioned will be available for tonight’s match.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Stefan Ortega: Ortega in goal is an easy selection for tonight’s match.

Matheus Nunes: Nunes put in a quality performance against Everton. Based on that he deserves to start tonight in such a pivotal game.

Ruben Dias: There is nothing to suggest that Dias and Gvardiol won’t resume their partnership in the heart of City’s defence tonight.

Josko Gvardiol: The Croatian international was City’s man-of-the-match against Everton. He should start alongside Dias at centre-back tonight.

Nico O’Reilly: The young midfielder has become a key contributor at left-back. He deserves to start once again tonight against Aston Villa.

Nico: I’d be surprised if Nico didn’t start in midfield tonight. He adds an important element to City’s midfield and he should start tonight.

Mateo Kovacic: Kovacic plays better alongside Nico. He scored against Everton and his midfield pairing with Nico could be crucial to tonight’s result.

Bernardo Silva: I can’t see Bernardo not starting tonight. It appears to be down to a choice of either him or Gundogan but I expect Bernardo to start.

Kevin De Bruyne: De Bruyne doesn’t have many games left in front of the Manchester City home support. I expect him to start and he could be crucial to City’s chances tonight.

Jeremy Doku: The Belgian winger put in a sparkling cameo display against Everton. That performance should see him start tonight.

Omar Marmoush: There is no reason for Marmoush to be dropped for tonight’s match. He will have a vital role to play for Pep Guardiola’s side.
