Longhorns baseball transfer class gets top five ranking

After a busy offseason, expectations are high for the future of Longhorns baseball. Over the last few months, Texas has been one of the busiest programs in the transfer portal, adding talent from across the country. That hard work has paid off, as the Longhorns’ transfer class has been ranked the third best in the nation by D1Baseball.

The Longhorns’ roster now feature nine players from the portal, including some of the nation’s top prospects. That group consists of Carson Tinney (No. 4), Aiden Robbins (No. 7), and Ashton Larson (No. 38), all of whom garnered spots among the top 50 transfer bats. Two top 50 arms will join them in Haiden Leffew (No. 4) and Cal Higgins (No. 49).

While Tinney and Robbins have yet to make their Longhorns debut, they have made headlines with their play. In 48 games for Notre Dame last season, the Colorado native posted a .348 batting average and drove in 53 runs. He also set career highs in home runs with 17, runs batted in with 53, and doubles with 13. Due to his success at the plate, Tinney was the top catcher in the portal.

Like Tinney, Robbins has been an on-base machine. He will bring a career .369 batting average to Texas. During his time at Seton Hall, the Pennsylvania native also showed some power with 12 home runs and 25 doubles. Due to his ability to get on base and drive the ball, he should get plenty of opportunities to drive runs in with the Longhorns.

Overall, Texas will enter next season with 23 new faces. They will get a boost from the return of 16 players from last year’s SEC Championship club. With a deep roster full of talent at every position, they are in a great position to build on last season’s success.
