Luis Felipe Dias wasn’t going to let go once he found the neck of Donavon Hedrick at Dana White’s Contender Series 85.
Dias (16-5) delivered a conclusive performance Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas when he took the back of Hedrick (6-1) in the second round and committed everything to lock in the rear-naked choke. He did that, and got the tap at the 4:37 mark of Round 2 to close the middleweight contest.

After the fight, an elated Dias was proud to get his eighth career submission win, and perhaps the most significant of all as it could lead to a UFC contract.
“To be here, I’m very blessed,” Dias told Laura Sanko through an interpreter in his post-fight interview. “I got to show my skills tonight.”
