For former Denver Bronco receiver Ed McCaffrey, football runs deep in the family. Ed has brought more than his fair share of talent into the NFL, with sons Christian (running back, San Francisco 49ers), Luke (wide receiver, Washington Commanders), Max (offensive assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders) and Dylan (a former quarterback at the University of Northern Colorado).
Recently, his son Luke brought back memories of Ed when he had a ridiculous catch against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Nicki Jhabvala, Commanders beat writer for The Athletic, put a catch Ed made for the Broncos in 1997 or 1998 (the uniforms are not the powder blue ones, and Elway was throwing McCaffrey the ball) side by side with Luke’s catch, simply captioning it, “Like father, like son.” The catches are nearly identical, with a corner draping over their shoulder, lying out for a big gain.
Ed played 13 years in the NFL, in Denver from 1995-2003, winning two Super Bowls with the Broncos. He totaled 462 receptions for 6,200 yards and 46 touchdowns in Denver. Meanwhile, his posterity is doing just fine for themselves.
