AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is open to a move to Chelsea this summer following initial talks.
Maignan has emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea who have altered their stance on signing a new goalkeeper.
The West Londoners had been prepared to judge their current goalkeeping pool to establish a new number one, but the club’s Champions League qualification and Milan’s failure to reach Europe has presented an opportunity in the market.

Maignan is regarded as one of Europe’s best shot-stoppers and has twice been named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year. His current contract at Milan expires next summer, opening up the opportunity of a cut-price deal.
Chelsea could sign Mike Maignan for just £25m
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Chelsea could sign the 29-year-old for a fee of just £20m-£25m, alongside potential add-ons. Movement on Maignan’s future could accelerate quickly as Chelsea look to wrap up a deal ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup.
The move for Maignan would deviate from Chelsea’s recruitment focus on emerging talent, but is seen as a astute opportunity to strengthen a key area. Robert Sanchez was Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, but jointly-led the Premier League for errors leading to a goal (5).
Maignan could be one of several high-profile exits from the San Siro this summer. Tijjani Reijnders is closing in on a €70m move to Manchester City, while an agreement has been reached between Milan and Al-Hilal for Theo Hernandez. The French left-back is currently weighing up a move to the Saudi Pro League.
