Denzel Clarke is making a habit of home run robberies this season.
In early June, Clarke earned MLB’s honor of Play of the Week for his thrilling outfield catch that robbed the Toronto Blue Jays of a home run. And on Monday, Clarke did it again, but this time against the Los Angeles Angels!
With Monday night’s game having just gotten underway, Nolan Schanuel drove a ball into deep center field that looked like it had the distance to give the Angels the early lead. However, Clarke used the outfield fence to get enough height to jump up and snag the ball out of the air, robbing Schanuel and the Angels of a home run in an incredible feat of athleticism.
Here’s how the play unfolded in real time on Monday night.
That has to be the best catch we’ve seen in MLB this year, right? The way Clarke was able to get enough height to reach the ball then secure it before coming back inside the wall to ensure he didn’t drop it was absolutely incredible.
Other MLB fans thought so as well, as they proclaimed Clarke’s catch one of the best in baseball history.
MLB fans were so in awe of Denzel Clarke’s unreal home run robbery
