Michigan State is looking to snag one of the top players from a fellow Big Ten program via the transfer portal
Michigan State basketball is one of a few schools reportedly pursuing a big-time transfer prospect from a fellow Big Ten program.
Rob Reinhart of The Herald is reporting that Michigan State is one of five schools to reach out to Iowa transfer guard Josh Dix. The other schools to reportedly show interest in Dix are Auburn, Alabama, Providence and Louisville.
Dix played three years for the Hawkeyes before entering the transfer portal shortly after Iowa’s season came to an end. He started all 32 games for Iowa this year and averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He is a sharp shooter from outside, with a career three-point percentage of 41.9% on 265 attempts.
Dix is currently ranked as the top portal prospect, according to Reinhart.
The Spartans will have a need at guard with potentially both Jaden Akins and Jase Richardson leaving after this year. Dix would instantly contend for a starting spot on the Spartans next year should be join Michigan State via the portal.
