NFL owners to vote on revised Tush Push ban this week

The Packers revised its proposal to get rid of the play the Eagles run so well.

The play known as the “Tush Push,” made famous in recent seasons by the Philadelphia Eagles, is up for debate again this week. NFL owners will vote on a revised resolution that would ban such plays.

The Green Bay Packers proposed a change for the annual meeting earlier this offseason, but the discussion was tabled.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers amended the language of their resolution.

The initial proposal would make it to a 10-yard penalty by pushing or throwing the body against a player immediately receiving a snap that was lined up right behind the center.

It was reworked to essentially restore an old rule that existed previously, where teammates may not assist a ball carrier other than blocking a player in front of him. There will be no pushing, pulling, lifting them to their feet or throwing their body against them to assist them. Such a play would result in a 10-yard penalty.

The discussion was divided in March at the annual meeting. We will see if there is enough support this time one way or another to come to a decision.
