Congratulations to accomplished Congress and American Quarter Horse Association and World Horsewoman Jordyn Humbert, a 2023 Clyde High School graduate now attending the University of South Carolina.

She was recruited by the university to ride on their Division 1 Equestrian Team which competed in the SEC Equestrian Championships in Tryon, North Carolina at the end of March. Jordyn was one of five Horsemanship starters on the Equestrian team of 20, led by Carol Gwin, head coach and TR Potts horsemanship coach.

At the semi-finals, No. 4 South Carolina Gamecocks took on No. 1 Auburn Tigers in their match-up.

Jordyn went head-to-head with Auburn’s Sydney Swollom to earn her point for the Gamecocks. South Carolina then advanced to the finals against No. 2 Texas A&M where Jordyn matched up against A&M’s Ellie Gerbrandt, again scoring for the Gamecocks, fueling them to their 11-8 win over Texas and crowning them SEC Champions. They will now compete in the National Championships in Ocala, Florida later this month.

Jordyn is the daughter of Aaron and Joline Humbert. Since her family has always had horses, she learned to ride at the age of eight. Later, along with her older brother, Wyatt, and younger sister, Karly, she started riding horses with Pam Wolf of Republic and showed horses both at 4-H and local horse shows.

When she was 14, she started to train with the intent to show at the American Quarter Horse Association, her mother said. Within a year, she was showing at the Congress and World level shows, and she has never looked back. For the past few years, she and Karly have trained with Adam Winter of Winter Performance Horses in Zeeland, Michigan. At home, Jordyn has started training a three-year-old Quarter horse named Wally, which she calls her home-from-school project.
