The Green Bay Packers will host an official pre-draft visit with Arkansas State center Jacob Bayer on April 7, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Bayer (6-2, 315) made 46 career starts at center over his collegiate career, including 24 starts over two seasons at Arkansas State. He was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection and participated at the Senior Bowl, becoming the first Arkansas State player to attend the Senior Bowl since 2015.
Bayer suffered an ACL injury in April of 2024 but returned in time to play 12 games during his final collegiate season.
Over the last two seasons, Bayer allowed three sacks and 19 total pressures while receiving strong run blocking grades from Pro Football Focus. By overall grade, Bayer ranked seventh among centers in 2024. He ranked second — behind only Jackson Powers-Johnson — in 2023.
From Brandon Thorn’s scouting report on Bayer for Bleacher Report: “Overall, Bayer has below-average movement skills but brings the size, play strength, and demeanor to compete for a backup role at center with the upside to get onto the field during his rookie contract if he can clean up his footwork.”
Thorn sees Bayer as a potential fifth-round pick on Day 3.
The Packers could be on the search for a developmental center after losing Josh Myers, a 2021 second-round pick, in free agency.
