Patriots star defender noticeably slimmer in long-awaited return

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore looked noticeably slimmer as he addressed media members after Thursday’s training camp session.

He is admittedly in some of the best shape of his life, even if he isn’t a full participant at practice. The Patriots reportedly have a plan in place during his return from the blood clots that kept him out for most of the 2024 season, and the goal is to stick to it.

Barmore worked on conditioning on Day 2 of training camp, and there were no setbacks for the star defensive tackle. That bodes well for his chances of being ready by the start of the season.

Barmore recorded six tackles and one sack in only four game appearances last season. In 2023, he started to break out as a potential star defensive tackle after racking up 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, six pass deflections and one forced fumble.

The combination of Barmore and Milton Williams could give the Patriots one of the most formidable defensive fronts in the league. Just seeing him in the locker room should be a major boost to a defensive unit that underwent a makeover in the offseason.

A healthy Barmore is a proven game-changer on the football field.
