Police say that thieves stole more than $200,000 worth of property from Shedeur Sanders’ home on Sunday as the rookie Cleveland Browns quarterback made his NFL debut.
Citing home security footage, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio wrote in a press release that three masked burglars broke into Sanders’ home at 6:46 ET on Sunday and left at 6:58 p.m. with the stolen property.

Police did not announce what was stolen from Sanders’ house in the Cleveland suburb of Granger Township. They did not identify any suspects. The incident remains under investigation.
The break-in took place during the second half of Sunday’s game between the Browns and Baltimore Ravens in Cleveland. Sanders took over at quarterback in the second half for injured starter Dillon Gabriel, who suffered a concussion in the game.

The game action was Sanders’ first since the Browns selected him the fifth round of April’s NFL Draft out of Colorado. Sanders started the preseason as Cleveland’s fourth-string quarterback, but moved up to second string behind Gabriel after the Browns traded Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco.

Sanders completed 4 of 16 passes in the game for 47 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. The Ravens won, 23-16.
The incident is the latest burglary of a U.S. professional athletes’ home, with many of them having taken place while the athletes were competing. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home was broken into while he played in a “Monday Night Football” game against the Dallas Cowboys last December. The homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were also broken into late in 2024.
In September, the home of New Orelans Saints defensive Cam Jordan in was burglarized as Jordan played in a home game against the San Francisco 49ers. Luka Dončić’s Dallas home was broken into last December when the NBA star still played for the Mavericks.
The FBI issued a warning in December of international crime organizations tracking the whereabouts of athletes and using sophisticated technology to conduct home break-ins when they aren’t home.
