Ladies and gentlemen, the Chargers’ schedule is out.
It’s only right to go through every game on the schedule and predict the results. Just on paper, let’s see what we have the Bolts going in 2025.
Week 1 vs. Chiefs
You can’t start the season much tougher than facing the defending AFC Champions in a game played in Brazil. There wouldn’t be a better way for Jim Harbaugh and company to set the tone for the season than to pull off a win like this. The Chargers played well against the Chiefs last season, and with upgrades throughout this year’s roster, Los Angeles squeaks out a massive victory in Week 1.
Prediction: Win (1-0)
Week 2 @ Raiders
The Raiders quarterback situation will be better with Geno Smith, but the Chargers should still handle business here. It’s a primetime Monday Night Football matchup, and the Chargers should particularly dominate in the trenches.
Prediction: Win (2-0)
Week 3 vs. Broncos
The matchups between these two teams will feature evenly matched rosters. Given that this contest is at home, we’ll hand the Chargers another victory in Week 3.
Prediction: Win (3-0)
Week 4 @ Giants
The Giants may be better in 2025 as they have three decent options at quarterback now. The Chargers should still be too much for them, though, which should lead to their fourth victory of the season.
Prediction: Win (4-0)
Week 5 vs. Commanders
Will Jayden Daniels go through a sophomore slump? He’s the kind of talent that avoids those seasons, and the Chargers defense may struggle with his mobility in this one. Despite being at home, the Bolts drop their first game of the year.
Prediction: Loss (4-1)
Week 6 @ Dolphins
It was a down year for Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins in 2024, but they still have plenty of firepower. The Chargers secondary will struggle to keep up with Miami’s speed and loses a close one on the road.
Prediction: Loss (4-2)
Week 7 vs. Colts
Stopping the Colts’ run game is a clear X-factor in this contest with the combination of Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor. The Chargers do just enough to slow them down and get back on track to end a two-game losing streak.
Prediction: Win (5-2)
Week 8 vs. Vikings
Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy faces his college head coach and defensive coordinator in this one. While he should have his feet wet at this point in the season, the Chargers coaching staff should know some ways to stifle his arm. Still, the Vikings’ offense is difficult to stop, and this matchup features two of the more balanced teams in the league. Minnesota walks away with a huge road victory with an impressive performance from their defense.
Prediction: Loss (5-3)
Week 9 @ Titans
The Chargers face a rookie quarterback in consecutive weeks with the #1 overall pick, Cam Ward, this time around. This Titans roster doesn’t have enough talent to compete with the Chargers. Give Los Angeles a comfortable victory here.
Prediction: Win (6-3)
Week 10 vs. Steelers
The quarterback situation in Pittsburgh is still up in the air, and they have less talent than in past years anyway. Herbert was injured in last year’s contest against the Steelers, leading to a crucial loss. Expect him to put some big numbers in a revenge victory here on Sunday Night Football.
Prediction: Win (7-3)
Week 11 @ Jaguars
The Jaguars should not be nearly as bad this year with Liam Coen as the new head coach and electric rookie Travis Hunter. There’s no excuses for Trevor Lawrence now, and they take care of business over the Chargers at home with their aerial attack.
Prediction: Loss (7-4)
Week 12: BYE
Week 13 vs. Raiders
The Chargers have an extra week of preparation here with the bye in Week 12. They sweep their division rival here and improve to 8-4 on the season.
Prediction: Win (8-4)
Week 14 vs. Eagles
The Chargers will get the defending Super Bowl champs at home here late in the season. Saquon Barkley has to be of concern after his legendary 2024 campaign. The NFC East side is too much for the Chargers in this one.
Prediction: Loss (8-5)
Week 15 @ Chiefs
Good luck sweeping Patrick Mahomes.
Prediction: Loss (8-6)
Week 16 @ Cowboys
We’ll see how the Cowboys bounce back this season, although they did add a major piece in George Pickens. Coming off two straight losses, the Chargers bounce back in a big way with a clutch victory with a late defensive stop.
Prediction: Win (9-6)
Week 17 vs. Texans
CJ Stroud hit a bit of a sophomore slump in 2024, but he has the talent to bounce back. His wideouts should be better in 2025, but they seem to be a few pieces away from legitimate Super Bowl contenders. This quarterback battle will be fun to watch in a rematch of the playoff contest from this past season.
Prediction: Win (10-6)
Week 18 @ Broncos
It’s always difficult to sweep division rivals, particularly when the teams are evenly matched. The Chargers did just that to the Broncos in 2024. This time, Denver avoids the sweep with a Week 18 victory.
Prediction: Loss (10-7)
