Quentin Johnston notching touchdown after touchdown at training camp

As the Chargers are five days into training camp, there have been a few standout performers, but there hasn’t been a player who has impressed as much as wide receiver Quentin Johnston has.

Johnston has five touchdowns in five training camp practices, with the most recent coming in Tuesday’s session as he hauled in two during the red zone period while working with the first-team offense.

However, the biggest signs of growth in Johnston’s game have been his hands and his ability to track deep balls, as dropped passes were an issue the past couple of seasons.

“He’s just added so much to his game,” Justin Herbert said of Johnston’s performance, adding that the receiver is “talented and gifted” and has worked incredibly hard.

After Mike Williams’ retirement announcement, the Chargers will need other members of the wide receiver room to step up, so it’s a promising sign to know that Johnston’s chemistry with Herbert is continuing to blossom heading into his third season.
