Royce Newman salary, contract details, cap hit with Arizona Cardinals

Howard Balzer breaks down the numbers of OL Royce Newman’s one-year deal with the Cardinals.

Guard Royce Newman is looking for a new start with the Arizona Cardinals, and he will be doing it after signing a one-year qualifying contract that lowers the salary cap charge for base salaries.

A fourth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2021, Newman started 16 games at right guard that season. However, there were only six starts in 2022 and two in 2023 followed by being placed on waivers on Aug. 27, 2024.

Claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Newman spent the entire season there but played in only one game, was active for seven and did not play while being inactive for nine.

Royce Newman contract details

His contract for 2025 is worth $1,337,500 and includes a $45,000 signing bonus. The 2025 base salary is $1.17 million. There is also a $45,000 offseason workout bonus plus $4,559 in per-game active bonuses for a max total of $77,500. His cap charge is $1,197,500.

For the 13 signed players with published contract details (Newman, Zay Jones, Simi Fehoko, Jacoby Brissett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Joey Blount and Aaron Brewer) plus the 1-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $49.245 million.

We are still waiting on the official figures for additions Jake Curhan and Jaylon Jones along with re-signed player Kelvin Beachum.
